Perm Sec Leads State House Digital Transformation

Introduction to Digital Skills Literacy

The Permanent Secretary, State House, Mr Temitope Fashedemi, has underscored the need for digital skills literacy among staff in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Fashedemi made this known after commending five outstanding staff members of the State House for their exceptional performance in the Digital Skills Literacy Training Programme initiated by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF).

Commendation of Outstanding Staff

Receiving the staff members in his office, the Permanent Secretary lauded their commitment to personal growth and their remarkable performance throughout the training. He said their achievements reflect the State House’s dedication to excellence, professionalism, and innovation-driven service delivery. “I am proud of you because you have distinguished yourselves in this critical training initiative. Your achievement underscores our readiness to embrace digital transformation and aligns perfectly with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises efficiency and technological advancement in governance,” Fashedemi said.

The Digital Literacy Action Plan

The permanent secretary commended the OHCSF for initiating the programme, describing it as a strategic step toward building a modern, digitally skilled federal workforce. The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Didi Esther Wilson-Jack, launched the comprehensive service-wide Digital Literacy Action Plan in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). The initiative aims to equip civil servants with the digital competencies required to thrive in a 21st-century work environment.

Objectives and Alignment with National Policies

The programme, which began on Sept. 10, forms part of Pillar Five-Digitalisation and Enterprise Content Management of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP25). It also aligns with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS 2020–2030) and Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which targets 70 per cent digital literacy among Nigerians by 2027.

Winners of the Training Programme

The winners include Wassa Francis, Ubong Akpan, Abdulrahman Iliya, Oluwasegun Samuel, and Ahmed Musa, who each received HP laptops presented by Wilson-Jack. The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction as well as the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs made up the top three winners for the first month of the training programme.

Conclusion

The emphasis on digital skills literacy among staff is a significant step towards achieving the goals of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
