Regulate Orphanages, Foundation Urges FG

Call for Regulation of Orphanages in Nigeria

The Founder of Habila Life and Mentorship Foundation (HLMF), Mr Dussah Bala, has called on the Federal Government to monitor and regulate the establishment of orphanages in the country. He made this statement during a visit to Jesus Kids with Special Needs (J.K.S) Orphanage in Kubwa, Abuja, as part of activities to celebrate his birthday.

The Need for Regulation

Bala stressed the need for the government to provide grants and put in place proper laws to regulate orphanage homes in the country. He emphasized that his foundation will continue to focus on providing support for the less privileged, including those incarcerated, sick, orphans, and widows in the society. Bala, who is also an orphan, chose to celebrate his birthday at the orphanage to show appreciation for the care and support he received during his own childhood.

Support for the Less Privileged

“The reason for coming to an orphanage to celebrate my birthday is because I am an orphan too, and I know how it feels,” Bala said. He also took the opportunity to appreciate several organizations, including the Alice Wanny Development Foundation, Ajebota Foundation for Disadvantaged Children, Book Club with love, and Lead Joe 1808 Foundation, for their contributions to making the day a success.

The Importance of Responsible Parenting

The Country Director of Leadership Joe 1808 Foundation, Ike Chinedo, urged parents to avoid taking harmful substances during pregnancy, as it may lead to children with special needs. He emphasized that children are gifts from God and should not be discarded, regardless of their circumstances. Chinedo also appealed to everyone to love one another and continue to preach love.

Support for JKS Orphanage Home

The Director of JKS Orphanage Home, Mrs Nifemi Ajideye, thanked the guests for their support to the orphanage. She urged the government, NGOs, and other organizations to continue supporting the JKS Orphanage Home, as the children need their help. The administrator of JKS, Ms Victoria Adams, noted that the orphanage needs more financial support to cater for the needs of the children, including transportation to school.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the call for regulation of orphanages in Nigeria is a timely one, as it will help ensure that these institutions are providing the necessary care and support to vulnerable children. The support of organizations and individuals, such as Mr Dussah Bala and the Leadership Joe 1808 Foundation, is crucial in making a positive impact on the lives of these children.
